Half Birthday

As I settled in for the evening, my weekend plans destroyed by the latest winter storm forecast, I realized that today is my half birthday!  In 6 short months I will hit the quarter of century mark.  I'm not stressed about it, but this seems like an opportune time to make some resolutions (especially since I didn't nail anything down for New Year's).  These are real things that I hope I can actually tick off a list, not some schmoopy Learn to Love Your Life List. (although I do love those).

25 Things to do Before I Turn 25 (in no particular order)
25.  Complete "Couch to 5K"
Today I completed my 4th workout, Day 1 of Week 2.  Baby steps, y'all.

24.  Create a new and improved Gym Playlist
Or let someone else do it.  But seriously, as much as l love running to songs you heard at Senior Prom, I need some new motivation!

23.  Actually Participate in a Real Life 5K
Maybe one of those colorful ones?

22.  Read Magazines
I have a compulsive need to purchase any yearly magazine subscription Groupon offers for $5.  As much as I love a good magazine, get a few subscriptions and they pile up unread faster than you'd think.

21.  Reread Some Childhood Classics
Little Women, Anne of Green Gables, and their sequels.

20.  See a Musical
I haven't been to a play since high school and I've never seen a real musical so I think it's about time.

19.  Decorate my Apartment
Continue the hunt for mid-century style pieces, rehab the men's valet stand I found at a thrift store for $4.50 into an awesome accessories stand, buy some curtains.

18.  Buy a Good Map
or two.  and/or a globe

17.  Organize the Decorated Apartment
Convert the hall closet into the shoe closet it was clearly meant to be, utilize those empty Birch Box boxes as organizational tools.

16.  Do Something With My Travel Scraps
Specifically, this.

15.  Actually Print Out Photos.  Maybe Frame Them.
I'm actually already working on this one.  I signed up for GrooveBook the other day.  I'm pretty excited to get my first one!

14. Dress for the Job You Want, Not the Job You Have.
The job I want is co-owner of an adorable, trendsetting boutique.  However, this goal is mostly about my winter struggle of dressing for work in 5 minutes because I didn't want to get out of bed and only want to wear warm things.  So rather than whether it really makes a good outfit my main concerns have been more like "Does it have long sleeves?" "This is my only clean cardigan?" "Those pant legs aren't skinny enough for boots"

13.  Get a Promotion
I get to start taking some building code certification exams over the next couple weeks...I can't wait to knock 'em out.

12.  Write Snail Mail
I've been saying this for ages, but I want to be the kind of person who always celebrates birthdays, holidays, and thank yous with a cute card.  There's too much adorable stationary out there not to.  Check out http://instagram.com/annariflebond  - You've probably seen her stuff at Anthro.

11.  Perfect My Handwriting
In order to successfully be an expert stationary user, I'm gonna need to work on my sloppy scribble.

10.  Learn to Make a Perfect Dirty Gin Martini
They seem so straightforward...Gin, Vermouth, Olive Juice on the rocks, but my last attempt was such a letdown.  I probably need a fancy shaker, right?

9.  Attempt to make Bourbon Balls
I've never really experimented with candy-making, but a good Kentucky girl should probably be able to make a good bourbon ball - If all else fails, the originator of this treat has a shop just a couple blocks from my apartment.

8.  Then there's the Bourbon Trail
6 years in Central KY and I still haven't visited a single distillery on the Bourbon Trail.  I need to work on being a tourist in my own state.

7.  Visit The Frankfort Sites
Frankfort has some things.  There's the KY History Museum, a Military Museum, and a Vietnam War memorial all within short distances from my apartment.

6.  Cross things off my Lexington Bucket List
There are still so many restaurants I haven't tried in Lexington and new ones keep popping up.  Don't mind me, I'll just be stalking new restaurants on social media...

5.  Go to Derby
This year, for reals.

4.  Go to One of These New Trampoline Parks
They seriously have trampoline fitness classes for grown-ups.

3.  Volunteer at a Habitat for Humanity Build

2.  Go to a Music Festival

1.  Go to Chicago
I've been in the airports several times, but have never set foot into the actual city! And its only 5ish hours away...I have no excuse.
